Received the "Mobility Related Parts Award" in the Cho-Monozukuri Parts Awards

Tatsuta Chemical Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Tatsuta Chemical") and Daikyo Nishikawa Corporation* (hereinafter referred to as "Daikyo Nishikawa") received the "Mobility Related Parts Award" at the "2023 'Cho' Monozukuri Parts Awards " organized by the Monozukuri Nippon Conference and the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd.

The "Cho-Monodzukuri Parts Award" was established in 2003 to honor outstanding parts and materials that contribute to the improvement of competitiveness and the development of industry and society as "behind-the-scenes" players in the Japanese manufacturing industry. This year marks the 20th award.

The following is a summary of this year's awards.

Mobility Related Components Award

Subject

Automotive instrument panel (low shrinkage & good-touch PVC surface skin)

Overview

Tatsuta Chemical has been producing soft PVC compounds for instrument panel skin materials molded by the powder slush process. However, conventional skin materials using general-purpose soft PVC compounds had problems with deterioration of physical properties due to degradation over time and appearance deterioration due to shrinkage, etc. Tatsuta Chemical has developed this technology in cooperation with Daikyo Nishikawa, which molds instrument panel skin materials by the powder slush process.

This technology was developed in collaboration with Daikyo Nishikawa, which molds instrument panel skin materials using the powder slush process, and is innovative as a skin material using soft PVC material, with excellent heat aging resistance and good tactile feel, and after developing technology for skin molding, mass production for commercial vehicles was started.

In addition, the newly developed surface skin material made of soft PVC compound is more recyclable than the conventional surface skin material made of TPU compound, enabling environmentally friendly product design.

Award Ceremony on Wednesday, December 13 (at the Keidanren Kaikan Conference)

We will continue to improve our technological capabilities to add value to mobility by enhancing comfort and functionality.
